Double posting day! What an emo looking guy. A short moment ago an anonymous commented on a card that looks promising against the Prophecy match-up. A wise person once said, “Do not underestimate others’ opinions.” So here I am sharing and learning at the same time. Obviously, I have not tested this seem-to-be-legit-card thus why I would like to hear from others who have been experimenting with the subject named Bubble Crash. To be honest, I am very curious to how effective Bubble Crash can be against magic mania. To those who have been playing around with this card, do share your opinions as to the effectiveness of this dubious proposition. Perhaps the dreaded isn’t all that dreadful as it looks. This card might be THE ONE card you need when going against Prophecies if you’re not running a deck that allows access to cards like Eradicator Epidemic Virus or Naturia Beast. It is easy to see how Anti-Spell Fragrance is comparable to one-card-kill cards like Soul Drain, Macro Cosmos, and more. When going against Prophecies it is pretty common to encounter problems which make cards like Thunder King Raioh sub-par due to their readiness towards such obvious threats even though theoretically T-King is one of the best solution for Prophecy's broken plays (Spellbook of Power, Injection Fairy Lily, Toon Gemini Elf, and Breaker are all convenient answers.)  Also to highlight, Mind Crush is not nearly as useful as many think if that card is the back-up plan you have in mind and to be honest Droll & Lock Bird doesn’t do THAT much against Prophecies. Sure you get to slow them down a turn but if you can’t dictate the pace completely there really isn’t much you can do to stop magic mania from overturning the board (siding in more hate kills your deck consistency in a way.) So, if you are looking for that one card that might well put you in the driver’s seat try out Anti-Spell Fragrance. Doubt not Prophecy is public enemy number one as of now. Confronting Burdens

If you are a Malaysian and planning to participate in the soon-to-come Asia Qualifiers, chances are in the back of your mind Side-Decking has once again become an issue due to the diverse Meta. While that might be true with diversity and all the whatnots I am sticking to my guts telling me Verz and Fire Fist (4 and 3-Axis) are the two biggest contenders in the tournament as of now. Having said that, one should not take Mermails out of the picture yet (the fuck you thinking they are in full power!) So, what is the best way to know what to Side against? Understand this Malaysians ran whatever the fuck they like until Sam comes along and win a tournament with some deck. That’s when the bandwagon starts and that’s when things go easy for the ones who were ready. Yes, that’s how things roll here. LOL!

Right now the two biggest dark horses are definitely Incarnate Dragons and Prophecies. Question is who would be represented more than the other. In the previous post, I mentioned how big of a price tag Incarnate Dragons come with so you can safely write them off as being Meta. Players here rarely try out and commit to a deck until it has shown results. Unlike Incarnate Dragons, Prophecies have been around for a VERY LONG time but only recently has the deck went from “just another deck” to one of OCG’s dominant forces (all thanks to Divine Judgment.) So, what about ‘em mages? It is more likely for Prophecy to make a debut in Asia Qualifiers as a dark horse compared to Incarnate Dragons if you ask me simply because more people own Batels and Junons than the sizzling hot new Dragons. That being the case for Prophecy however Magician and High Priestess’ prices has gone up drastically since the release of Divine Judgment (RM400 for six cards is not funny.)

So, price tags will be the defining factor until one deck comes along and tops every shit existed.  Similar to how Verz took awhile before officially going Meta it takes time for Malaysian Meta to graduate from Verz and the rest to Incarnate Dragons/Prophecies and the rest. If you are looking for advice, know your opponent’s deck better than they do. The easiest insurance you can have going into any major tournament. Best part is knowledge is free when internet exists. So, yeah, this is a random post while I am still deciding which deck to run. Thank you for reading!

Obsessions And Possessions

I went to locals on Sunday to check out how the scene is going around but unfortunately there was a Vanguard tournament held on the same day so no Yugioh happened. Instead of heading straight back I decided to chill with a friend of mine and chat with some of the familiar faces in the shop to see if I can learn more about how the Meta is shifting. Funny enough almost everyone answered “Verz” when I asked which is the most played deck in Kuala Lumpur right now. With that cleared up, it is certain that the key aspect of Asia Qualifiers in Malaysia will revolve around Verz. However, I did notice Fire Fist variants picking up pace and people slowly abandoning Mermails (interesting I must say.)

While I was play-testing with a friend, I notice random players coming up to me asking about Incarnate Dragons and whatnot. Although Suppressors are indeed being given the attention they deserve I highly doubt Incarnate Dragons would define Asia Qualifiers due to Verz still holding the most position in this country’s Meta and the price tag Suppressors come with. RM60 for a piece of Dragon isn’t exactly cheap when you need all four of them together with their new draw power which is charting up to RM70 market value as of now. At a minimum cost, all four dragons and triple pieces of Seven Stars Draw comes to RM900 not including the rest of the deck. Having said that, I am sure Blaster and Redox will make their debut in Asia Qualifiers.

The only problem I have right now is Dragunity Phalanx not being an official tournament card. Damn right I have been keeping my Dragunities for far too long why don’t Konami just reprint that little fucker already?! (At least make the dude official LOL) As for Prophecies, the good players know how broken Divine Judgment of the Spellbook is and the common players are playing the waiting game for now. (Probably after ACQ Prophecy will take the throne from Verz.) Fire Kings are here and there but no real sign of them coming up yet. So, both decks are in the Tier 2 category for now. As to Mermails’ position, I need to observe for another week to make a conclusion. Right now I have access to Hieratics, Heroes, and Verz (Dragunities are out of the question) but I do not know which to run for Asia Qualifiers. Sounds Like Bleach

It has been about a week since Lord of the Tachyon Galaxy made its entrance in OCG scene and everything LTGY planned to set into motion definitely has begin to show signs. I have been observing the market value for cards in the new set and right now two cards are the more than qualified enough to be called the money card of this set. First card would be this fellow here:

TREASURED SWORD OF THE SEVEN STARS

 

Initial value when released, RM30. Right now Seven Stars Draw (what we call it in Malaysia) has doubled its value (RM60) and that doesn’t seem to be the end of it. I am expecting it to increase up to RM80 per piece in the future if the Metagame develops accordingly. I doubt I need to explain why this card comes with such a big price tag. 

REDOX, THE ROCK-INCARNATE DRAGON

 

Among the four Incarnate Dragons, Redox appeared to be the most expensive one. This came as a surprise to me due to the fact that I was expecting all four dragons to have similar market value. As of now, Redox went from RM20 to RM60 per piece while the rest of the crew went from RM20 to RM40 (RM50 if you’re lucky enough to fish out a deal.) Whether or not this card will continue to climb the price ladder I am not sure but one thing for sure most of everyone is looking to try out Geargia Karakuri or Machina Geargia.

Subsequently, Number 11: Big Eye went up in price together with Treasured Sword and Redox (we can all guess why.) So, by looking at the way things are right now Malaysia should expect both Geargia Karakuri and Incarnate Dragons to enter the competitive scene (dominate or not that’s a different story.) With that, players that own Verz would definitely take a chance in the upcoming Asia Qualifiers. The Malaysian Meta right now consists of Verz, Fire Fist, Mermails, and if I would choose one between the two mentioned above it would definitely be Geargia Karakuri. Rather than spending cash on all ‘em dragons it seems smarter to only get Redox and Seven Stars Draw couple with Geargia’s new arsenal Geargia-Gear. Karakuri was never expensive to begin with. Having said that, between Geargia Karakuri and Machina Geargia the latter does look like a better choice when it comes to stability.
