No, we’re not going to be discussing about The Lord of the
Rings trilogy. I was hooked up on ‘em yesterday and watched the whole saga in
one night so that’s probably the most familiar four words that are in my mind
right now. Good stuff is good! Before everything else, I would like to
apologize for yesterday’s article regarding Gravekeeper’s Watcher. I took it
down because I got my facts wrong and I don’t want to screw shit up. It was
misleading. To those who read it, that shit is wrong! Sorry for the confusion
and thank you Ventus from No Names for reminding me! Anyhow, Extra Pack 2012
has a lot of jank foils and the good stuffs are climbing into three digits
fast.
To kick things forward, please check out LFN’s post on
Doomcaliber Knight. It’s a good read so do take time to read up. I found it
rather refreshing. So, now on today’s topic, as I mentioned before I am looking
for a replacement for Ninja Grandmaster Hanzo in my Hieratics deck and both
Doomcaliber Knight and Breaker the Magical Warrior were the most suitable in my
opinion. I was dying for a new Dark ally. Desperate really but another method
that has been growing in popularity lately especially in explosive deck is the
Main-Decking of instant one-for-one trades like Smashing Ground. Analyzing a little
deeper, Smashing Ground is a good card and obviously it deals with problem
cards like Raioh and Krystia for example without breaking a sweat. But in a
format where Heroes are a prominent deck and Chaos Dragons potentially
returning to the scene Smashing Ground might not be the best one-off-trade tech
this format. Talking about Malaysia’s line of Meta we are. The shizzles here: http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Soul_Taker
(Precious...My Precious...Tasty Precious...)
No need for introductions. Soul Taker was one of the most
played cards in the TCG competitive scene. It probably seen a fraction of play
in OCG but not everyone thought of it as the best card to combat Chaos Dragons.
A differentiation of opinions and tactics so no helping it. Regardless of that
matter, I find Soul Taker a better one-off-tech for this format in comparison
to cards like Smashing Ground or Hammer Shot simply because it allows you to
choose your designated target for destruction. Sometimes you rather destroy
another card despite Smashing’s indication of another card. The privilege to be
able to choose which card to destroy is table-turning big. The other advantage
lies in the obvious reason why this card sees play in the first place, the
ability to cause some cards to miss-timing. With Heroes being the big bad wolf
next to Wind-Ups in Malaysia, screwing with Shining gives you more than
satisfaction it gives you assurance. Well, that’s one example, if Chaos Dragons
do become Tier 1.5 or 2 than fucking up Lightpulsar Dragon is one of those
things you need to have in mind. Having a means to deal with massive problem
cards provides you with a colossal chance to close Game One in favour of you.
Having said all that, I am not the biggest fan of healing my
opponents but if it comes with benefits than fuck the thousand points. Given
that 1000LP can cause you to go gaga over a minority of issues like
re-activating your opponent’s dead Solemn Warning or keeping your supposedly
dead opponent alive after a fierce rush on damage, high risks brings high
rewards is all I can say. Nothing is perfect but do remember so things are
worth the shots. So, this could be my replacement in Hieratics. I’d probably
just drop LPD to one and rely on Tragoedias, Gorz, and my hidden arsenal of
DARK Extra Deck bullies as fodder for Chaos combos. In general, Soul Takers are
good enough to be in the front lines. Though that all depends the player. That’s all
for today and I hope this has been a good thought-provoking read. Thank you for
spending time here!
dat nostalgic card...hey, what do you think about Book of Eclipse as tech? (hint: they won't draw anything if their f/d monsters are destroyed first :D)
ReplyDeleteBook of Eclipse is a nice tech but the problem is Maxx "C". If Maxx wasn't around Book of Eclipse would be an effective tech.
Deletehhmmm. nice point for soul taker, but with regards for other decks, its just different, breaker is much more usable against decks that hieratic has problems with. :) well thats my only point :) its your call.
ReplyDeleteOverall, Breaker is a more flexible card in Hieratics. You can beat with it, pop back-rows, and Exceed into something bigger in comparison to a one way card like Smashing or Taker.
DeleteBut Breaker doesn't give that sense of urgency if you get what i mean. In regards with Taker being in other decks, It's highly dependent on the player. It might not provide synergy but it will not break the balance. That's how i see it.
hey man
ReplyDeleteI've been reading your last couple of posts and I'm just wondering if you considered keeping Hanzo in with Forbidden Chalice. Forbidden Chalice helps against Rai-Oh since you can negate the effect, then you can make up for the -1 with Hanzo's effect.
Yo, how's it going? Can't say i have thought about Hanzo-Chalice combination. I'll try it out. Though one thing's for sure, Hanzo has passed his prime in Hieratics. Not only Raioh is a problem but Heroes are as well.
