Asia Championship has gone by so
has YCS Toulouse and Dallas. Rabbit has finally won in their own ground for the
first time and surprising enough Dragons did well in Toulouse. Similar to that,
Hieroglyphs Ninja took Asia. This seems to be a good year for dragons. Congratulations to all the champions that
won! Much to be assure, there will be an increase in Hieratics players.
Malaysia-wise. I suppose I should be prepared to face an onslaught of mirror
matches. I am interested in observing
how Hieroglyphs would fare in TCG seeing that Card Car D will most probably be
Secret Rare. Surprisingly, the TCG-exclusives for Hieratics does not promise
much. I am not saying they are bad but it takes too much work to plus with
them. All and all, hopefully they are worth while and more innovations happen.
Been doing a lot of deep
considerations lately and concluded that events sometime happens for no
apparent reason thus came the topic of the day. Today I’d like to discuss about
a factor in YGO that every player is familiar with, misplays. This has always
been a hot topic to highlight whenever a duel happens. May it be locals or in a
major tournament. We hear the term
‘misplay’ a lot but what does it really mean? Does it signifies anything?
Frankly speaking, there is no clear definition to what a misplay is. This is a
personal point of view, something subjective in its own manner. First off all,
there are two factors players need to be clear of, obvious mistakes whereby
everyone understands its a big mistake and the other being tactics. Actions
like forgetting to equip Giga Mantis and
attacking for game are issues one can never write off as “tactics”. Plain
stupid much? Now here is where the tricky part lies.
Tactics itself is something one
can never expect unless, again, If it is obvious. I have constantly encourage
the need of playing to your own preference. Similar to the current topic, no
one can really define a play another duelist made to be a misplay because each
different players has their own play-style and tactics. Only you can define
whether or not the move you just made is a misplay to yourself and only you can
justify that decision. Stop trying to classify or categorize certain
points when you might not have fully
understood it, in general. At the end of the day, only the player making that
move has the right to judge or call the decision he or she just made as a
misplay. This is something Mike, from Dueling Legacy, and me has been trying to
observe and discuss whenever we play-test.
We would go through the pros and cons of a certain move taken after
duels and discuss how our game would or could have ended. For example, I would
prefer to summon Card Car D first when I am going second in attempt to bait out
traps while Mike would activate MST, if he has it, and blow off something
before attempting to summon and resolve Card Car D’s effect to plus like a boss.
Perhaps what I am trying to point
out is my decision would usually be called a misplay. Due to the fact that
maybe I should have aimed to plus off Car D instead of using it as a bait to
get rid of traps. Though not to forget, every play and decision should be
thought of first by considering the amount of resources you own at the time
being. How much advantage can it generate, now and later on. Similar to how one
would choose to Warning an Armageddon Knight to prevent it from Milling. It
looks to be a waste of resources but who can really tell other then the player doing
so himself? Could it be he does not have outs to the in-coming Dragonfly+Hornet
plays later in the game? Or maybe what he did is to prevent an early setup that
would have cost him that particular game due to him or her holding a bad hand
of cards?
There are many elements to
consider before making such claims. Conclusion, this subject is a factor which
holds many answers and opinions. Players should aim to understand a play made
before immediately calling it a misplay. Determine through consideration. Think
and re-think again to catch what you have just witness really means then only
you decide if in your case would you have made that move. Justified truth, one
may say so. Remember we all speak in different voices. This is all for today.
Thank you for reading!
Different situation la ours. I can afford to blast mst to fuel car d cos well it's inZektors.
ReplyDeleteFor your case, you should save ur msts for your dragon Comboes and use car d to bait traps.
Afterall you don't need to fear veiler you have 100redmds in your hand :p
So it's not a misplay cos we are using different decks
It was a general example.
DeleteAnd yes, REDMD comes whenever i needs him. The only card i can consistently top deck when i need and don't need him. Curse of the dragon i suppose. Damn sure you had fun continuing my "Effect" call with "Veiler". lol
