Rolling With The Top Dogs, 1

Here is something I would like to try out. From now on, I will feature duelists which I think are good role models and can help others improve with their insights and experiences. This section will not only focus on well-known players. How would this new addition to the blog influence a sense of change in players? That is up to readers themselves. This week I present to you a player who comes from The States who has recently topped a prestigious event, Wilson Tsang or better known as 3zinferno.

Wilson Tsang

Notable Achievements:

Top 16 YCS Providence 2011: Water Tengu Synchro
Top 32 YCS Guadalajara 2012: Wind-up
Top 8 YCS Long Beach 2012: Wind-up Beasts

How is the meta in your country performing at the moment? Will there be a change or will Rabbit Raggia, Wind-Ups and Inzektors continue
to dominate?

The meta still stands strong with Rabbit and Inzektors on top, then Wind-Ups, then Heroes and Dark Worlds, followed by Samurai and Lightsworn. I don't really know the TCG exclusives for the Hieratics but that could make an impact.

How do you prepare yourself upon entering a major tournament?

I do a lot of play-testing way before an event, not the night before. I also don't like the idea of chainging your deck/side deck the night before. It is too compulsive, and the deck/side should be carefully built before you even enter the tournament. Before YCS Long Beach, I made sure to get enough sleep, and didn't even play-test at all on Friday.

What is the best or fastest way to improve yourself as a player, in your opinion?

The best way to improve yourself as a player is stick with one deck and learn to play it flawlessly. The reason people usually misplay is that they don't understand the best possible plays with their own deck because they have not used it enough. I played gadgets for 2 years until I picked up another deck. I learned everything myself this way and got better at the game eventually. The fastest way I guess woulc be to watch videos and read as much content as possible in order to absorb. But honestly, the best way is still to learn and play in real tournaments yourself.

If there you were given the right to ban a card, which card would it be? Why?

If I were to ban a card right now, it would probably be monster reborn. It is too broken because it is a top deck miracle and also you don't even have to summon your own monster. Just Dark Hole your opponent's Thunder King, Reborn it and protect it. Win without summoning one of your own monsters? Broken.

If Konami would allow you to unbanned a card, which card would it be? Why?

I think Royal Oppression should not be banned. It is a continuous trap card in a format that main-decks 3 Typhoon, while Inzektors can pop it and Rabbits can negate its activation. Grapha gets around it and Super Polymerization gets past it too.

Hopefully this interview has gave you some useful information. Again, thank you for reading! Shout out the man himself! Be sure to follow him on his channel http://www.youtube.com/user/3zinferno/featured and like him on Facebook   http://www.facebook.com/3zinferno

  2. My own personal choice if i were to choose to unban 1 card would be Imperial Order same reason for Royal Oppression they both can get killed by card effects and lock out common and over used or abused aspects of the game.

    1. Seeing Inzektors are the top meta in Malaysia. I would agree with you. But honestly, in general, its about time Imperial Order makes its return. Too many destruction effect in this game now so Imperial Order is not as broken as before.
