WCQ is approaching and since YGO has nothing exciting going
on lately I’ll spend some time to elaborate on how some decks are capable of
opposing the Meta. Malaysia, of course. It could apply in your country’s Meta
but that really depends. For today, let me review on an old Meta that was once
as annoying as Inzektors. Yes, I’m talking about Six Sams. With a little tweak
here and there, they can once again be competitively frightful. I’ve mention
before this deck is not dead in Malaysia’s Meta. Why you ask? Here are a few
things players need to remember about Six Sam.
BROKEN ENGINE
This is one thing everyone has seem to forget. Gate, Dojo
and United is still as broken as ever given if the deck is piloted by an
experience player. United and Dojo is at three. Also, the latest banned list
gave them another Smoke Signal back so do not write them off, yet. Asceticisim is another one of those cards
Six Sam has that will eventually lead them to victory. The engine itself is
very much flexible and can go so many ways if played properly.
LEGENDARY SIX SAMURAI-SHI EN
Asia Format, no promos like Barkion or Beast. Though I
personally think Shi En is no longer a win condition for this deck seeing that
you only have a piece to make use of and it dies to generic trap cards or hand
traps. However, Shi En has the ability to distrupt the flow of your game and
that is something that will never change. Pace and tempo is crucial when you
want to control the field. So, keep an eye on this guy and do not, in any ways,
underestimate him. He can be immortal as well.
MONSTER POWERHOUSE EXCEEDS
Excalibur and Blade Heart. I don’t think I need to explain
much about them. Six Sams has always been a deck capable of controlling the
field and OTK at the same time. Having access to Excalibur and Blade Heart is
just as bad as multiple Shi Ens. M.X-Saber Invoker contributes to an extend as
well. With Double-Edge Sword Technique, summoning multiple copies of those
monsters is as easy as flipping the table. Asceticism is bullshit not to
mention, with the big three on field. United, Dojo and Gate.
MUSAKANI NO MAGATAMA
A lot of players have been caught up in the mindset of heavy
back-row is no longer a threat with triple MSTs and Heavy Storm back in action.
Not everyone but just a lot of others. Starlight Road has been growing in
popularity and to add to that Six Sams has Magatama. At 3! Protection against
anything is pretty damn serious. Speed 3 and multiple copies brings more bad
news. Of course, if they have no Sams on the field this card is pretty much
dead. But yeah, be sure to keep in mind about it since they can easily activate
Double-Edge or CotH if they are desperate enough to negate your stuff.
MACRO COSMOS
If you haven’t notice, Six Sams has access to Macro. Allowing
them to further combat the newer power holders. This card needs no introduction
and explanation. Six Sams can choose to side in more flexible cards and Macro
Cosmos is one of those. Forbidden Lance is good in Sams as well. So, if they
can wreck the Meta they are qualified enough to be in your radar. Brings us to
the question, is it time for a change of guards once more? I doubt so but they
will prove to be tenacious in their conquest.
I’ve come to the end of today’s post. How well
would old side cards fair against Six Sams depends entirely on the person
running this deck. If he or she is skillful enough, Kinetic Soldier and Gozen Match
will no longer be as problematic as it used to be. It’s a matter of conserving
resources. You have the element of surprise and skill level to consider in this
case. Will Six Sams surprise us in Malaysia WCQ? We will leave this for when
the day comes. Thank you for reading and do check out Baha’s interview if you
have not!
As a Six Sam player, I agree with most of your post, but I am still against siding Macro in Sams as that kills the United, which is a big part of the deck.
ReplyDeleteI agree that siding Macro Cosmos damages Sams' game-play. However, given the current situation of the Meta, Macro gives Sams a lot of leverage. Agree to disagree i suppose.
Deleteor you could just side in D.Fissure, since it doesnt stop united and unless you are tech helios( would definitely be random) then d.fissure accomplishes what your aim is for anyways monster removal.
DeleteD.Fissure does nothing against Inzektors. Hornet and Gruf are treated as equip cards when sent to the Graveyard. Macro is specifically in to combat Inzektors.
